Open Mornings

Our Open Mornings for 2018 will take place on Saturday 8th and Saturday 15th September from 10am-11am in Eastbank Primary School. Children of primary school age will have an opportunity to meet our tutors and to try any instruments they are interested in learning.

In addition, each child who learns an instrument is automatically a member of our choir, and as children progress on their instrument they will be able to join our orchestra or recorder ensemble.
Music School runs on Saturday mornings during term time.

The East Glasgow Music School is a unique, integrated approach to introducing Primary School children to a wide range of life skills in music making through individual instrumental tuition and singing.

We offer tuition on the following instruments:
Violin Cello Recorder Piano*
Brass (trumpet/horn) Oboe Flute Clarinet Viola
(*please note that piano tuition is limited and only available to those with a traditional piano, not keyboard, at home)

Individual music lessons are linked to group work in choirs which all children attend, and children who have reached the required standard may also participate in our orchestra and recorder ensembles. Children are encouraged to take part in public performances organised by the school and at Music Festivals. The School provides most instruments on free loan to the children and is fully inclusive, welcoming children of all levels of ability and from all religious and racial/ethnic backgrounds.

We ask parents to make a small contribution to the cost of running the school. Recorders must be purchased and any additional tuition books, strings and reeds as required.

If you would like to find out more about us and to register your child for a place for the forthcoming session then please come along to one of our Open Days at EASTBANK PRIMARY SCHOOL, SHETTLESTON on Saturday 8th or Saturday 15th September, 10am-11am.

Places will be allocated following the 2nd Open Day. Every child will be offered a place in our choir and we aim to find an instrumental lesson for as many children as possible. Timetables giving details of lesson and singing times will be sent to school during the week of 17th September. Lessons will commence on 29th September 2018 when parental contributions should be made.
